What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanesse based, ancient technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

The word “rei” means universal and the word “ki” is life energy, also known as the vital force or universal life force.

Rieki is a natural and simple healing method which allows you to absorb more life force energy. It vitalizes your life force and balances the energies in your body.

This natural healing energy flows in a powerful and concentrated form through the hands of the Reiki giver. The Reiki giver is used as a channel to conduct the Universal Life energy to conduct the Universal Life energy, thus the giver is simultaneously charged and strengthened.

What does Reiki do?

Reiki helps healing of all kinds and relieves pain and acute symptoms very quickly.

Reiki has a positive influence on spiritual growth. After a treatment, you may feel mentally much clearer about things and experience deep insights into particular questions or problems you are facing.

CHAKRAS & THE ENDOCRINE SYSTEM

The Reiki treatment hand positions correspond with the body’s endocrine glandular system and the seven main chakras.

The Endocrine system regulates hormone balance and metabolism. On an energetic level, the endocrine glands correspond to the seven main chakras, or energy centers.

The work “chakras” comes from the Sanskrit, meaning “wheel”. The clairvoyant sees the chakras as spinning energy spirals or colored chakras of light which differ in size and activity from one person to another.

Chakras are seated in the human etheric body and are connected to fine energy channels running along the spine. Without them the physical body could not exist.

These energy centers collect subtle energy, transform it and supply it to the body.

Each chakra is “linked” with a certain organ and region of the body and has an influence on its function.

Hormones produced by the glands flow directly into the blood stream or into the blood vessels of the organs, providing vital energy into the body.

India Head Champissage

HISTORY OF INDIAN HEAD CHAMPISSAGE

Massage has always played an important part in Indian life dating back nearly 4000 years. Today, Indian infants often receive a daily massage from birth to keep them in good health. Massage occurs across the generations as an integral part of family life.

Women used different oils to keep their hair strong, lustrous and in beautiful condition. Barbers offered “champi” (head) massage as part of their trade.

Echoes of this Indian tradition reached the West long before the practice itself in the form of “shampoo” which comes from the Hindi word ‘champi’. Being ‘champi-ed’ meant having your head massaged.

Head massage can now be seen in many locations in India on street corners, at markets and on the beach!

How does Indian Champissage work?

The head neck and shoulders are important energy centres within the body.

If you are feeling stressed or angry, tension accumulates. This tension later shows up as a stiff neck and shoulders, eye strain and sometimes even hair loss.

Indian Head Massage involves working with a firm and gentle rythmn to help unknot blockages and relieve built up uncomfortable tension.

How I was Introduced to Indian Champissage

Like many of my life experiences, I was lead to Indian Champissage through life’s circumstances. I was not “looking” for this training – I did not even know it existed!

I took my training from Narenda Mehta, an osteopath and Massage Therapist who owns and operates the London Centre of Indian Champissage.

 

About Narenda

Narenda has been totally blind from the age of one. His parents did not see his blindness as a drawback.

Narenda graduated from Political Science from Bombay University. However, he has been practicing bodywork for 25 plus years.

He is qualified in body massage, reflexology, touch for health and osteopathy. In his words, “Once you are seated in my chair, my fingers do all the seeing I require.”

Conclusion

Narenda’s energy and presence has had a life-long impact on me. I feel so blessed to have had the opportunity to meet and be trained by a true “energy” Master!
